About Gail Ingis

Painter, Writer, Educator

The art on this website is the compilation of studies in design and architecture, learning to draw and the application of watercolor. The rest is built on that foundation. Gail is known as a "Renaissance Woman" for her varied accomplishments. Her name is accompanied by the appellation ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) which is earned through education and experience.

Gail is a professor of history of architecture & interior design, photographer, artist juror, writer, design critic, and founder of the nationally accredited Interior Design Institute. Besides teaching at Interior Design Institute (IDI), she has taught at the New York School of Interior Design, Kean College in Union, New Jersey, the former King's College in Briarcliff Manor, New York and in Connecticut at the University of New Haven, University of Bridgeport and Fairfield University.

Currently she serves as Board Trustee and Art Director of Lockwood Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk, Connecticut. She is writing a Historic Romance novel based on a painting originally commissioned by Mr. Lockwood in 1867.

Ms. Ingis incorporates her skills of drawing and painting into her illustrative work, her fine art and portraits. Her sought-after-award winning work is represented in private collections, galleries, museums and corporations in the states and abroad. She is represented by Agora Gallery on-line, Rockwell Art Galleries in CT, the permanent collection of Lockwood Mathews Mansion Museum, permanent collection of the United States Professional Tennis Association, and permanent collection of the University of New Haven.
