The driving force of my art is in the brilliance of color and the power of light. Although trained in the tradition of illustration, I depict the “everyday” in an unexpected manner. Stylistically my work contains elements drawn from movements as diverse as Pop Art and Romantic Art. Unlimited by convention, I use everything from watercolor and gouache to oil and glazing. The creative power of art weaves me into my paintings through my experience of the interplay of natural light, color, shadow, and structure.
Landscapes the world over have inspired me. Everywhere the incredible beauty of a sunset takes my breath away! Over water, it’s a mirror of fire. Over a mountain it’s an avenue for the stars. I have stood on beaches waiting for sunrise, watching the first light of the day transform the landscape.
I am constantly challenging myself to seek new frontiers as I seek new and innovative methods to create a work. I am excited by the idea of forging a new kind of art and being at the vanguard. My aim is to add new dimensions to contemporary art through the language of color, new forms and expression.
